Act Like A Lady - And think like one too!

Let me start off by saying that I love Steve Harvey.  He is a walking testimony and is, seemingly, transparent when it comes to admitting his past and letting the world know that he isn't perfect, but he is God fearing.  He always has an uplifting message at the beginning of his morning show and I absolutely appreciate that.  With that being said, I did take time to read "Act Like A Lady; Think Like A Man;" while I can understand and at times even relate to where Steve was going with his logic I don't entirely agree.
Growing up, my mom taught me to be tough.  Don't cry over stupid stuff because life will go on.  She always supported (and still supports) me in all of my endeavors.  Any sport I wanted to play or anything that I wanted to do - she had my back and told me I can do it.  If I wanted to go out and play sports and get all muddy and sweaty, it was cool with her.  She also taught me to be a lady and know when it was time to fall back in certain situations.
Proverbs 23:7 says "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." That, in my opinion, is saying if I'm acting like a lady but thinking like a man, then I'm trying to be a man.  At some point that manliness is going to come out.  Matthew 12:33 says "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."
Ladies I understand that we need to be tough and not get walked all over.  I'm not saying, by any means, that we should be door mats or anything like that.  Women are backbones!  A good strong woman doesn't need a man mentality because we get more done with our own.  It's okay to be emotional and at times a little unstable because when it all boils down to it and the pressure is on we have to power to make things happen.  We are full time professionals and mothers, sisters, daughters, prayer warriors, intercessors, lovers, wives and sometime daddies too.  Acting and thinking like a Lady does nothing but bring your beauty out in its entirety.
In my opinion, if a man wanted a lady to think like him - he would hook up with one of his homeboys.  I'm just sayin'...

  1. Amen! There is something so wonderful about femininity. It's seems as though our culture tell us that embracing being feminine is not enough. Not.True. It's more than enough ladies. Love this post!
